These are the days...

Tomorrow we are baptizing Max. He is at such a sweet, wonderful age. I just want to freeze these moments in time. He is such a happy baby, so curious about his world. Although I look forward to watching him grow in life, physically, and spiritually, I want to preserve this innocence as long as I can.

These are the days!
Cheers!

Donna Downey's Class

I am a big fan of an artist named Donna Downey. I love her "free" style. Last Saturday, I was lucky enough to be able to take a class from her at CHA (the Craft & Hobby Assoc. Show). We made this layout on canvas. I'd been looking to make a layout of this photo of Madeleine and it just fit perfectly.
I'll admit that I didn't learn anything "earth-shatteringly new." But it was a fun class! There was a point that I wasn't sure if I was listening to a stand-up comedian or an instructor. If you get a chance to take one of her classes--DO IT!

Stinking Vikings lost!

Stinking Vikings! Now my kid will go to preschool tomorrow with helmet hair. He already has a "reputation." Horns carved into his hair probably won't help...

Go Vikings!

We are self-professing, guilty fair weather fans of the Minnesota Vikings. But, if you are going to do something, you really need to go all the way!Yep, that is Sam's REAL hair. I really hope they win today! Go Vikings!

Yes... I do still scrapbook

I've strayed from my scrapbooking lately but on New Year's Day, I got a lot done at a crop. Here are a few new favorite layouts from the holidays.
I have more to show you soon! I promise, dear blog, I will start sharing you with my crafts and scrap crap again. I'm off to CHA tomorrow--Wahoo!!! I can't wait for my class with Donna Downey!

Cheers!

Coming home again

I know there is that old phrase "You can never go home again." But I disagree. Yes, "home" changes and time touches everything. But for me, home is still a wonderful place. Referring to my childhood home, that is. But the home Brentt and I are making is also a wonderful place... I'm rambling... Anyways, I love going back to the farm. I have so many good memories and I love seeing how things change.
We even got to see a newborn baby calf.
It has been many years since I've been back to Minnesota in the winter. Long enough that I had forgotten what "real" winter is. Terms like "wind chill" and "icy mix" and "below zero" were brought to the forefront of my mind this last week.
While I was there, oddly enough, I heard those die-hard Minnesotans refer to a "heat wave" at 30 degrees. CRAZY!!! Max was not too happy about being bundled up.Happily, words like "snow fort" and "sledding" and "King of the Mountain" were introduced into Sam's Southern California vocabulary! But "home" really isn't about the actual building. It's about the people, the love, remembering the old memories, and creating new memories together.
There is no place like home.

The answer is....

The answer to our fun little quiz is.... Sam was baby #1 and Max is baby #2. Many of you guessed right but it was a little harder for some others. Thanks for playing!

A fun quiz...

Here's a fun quiz. Here are pictures of our 2 boys. Sam at 2 months old and Max at 2 months old. They are wearing the same outfits with similar backgrounds. Can you tell which baby is Sam and which is Max?

Baby #1This is so fascinating to Brentt and I considering that both kids are adopted and have different birth families.

Baby #2Hmmm....? Maybe its just that all babies look similar? Post your guess in the comments below. I'll let you know this week which baby is which. The Mama always knows.

Cheers!

The 3 / 50 project

I just heard about this project through one of my favorite local scrapbook stores called Paper Tales. Its called 3 /50 Project. You can learn more about it here: http://www.the350project.net/home.html

It's all about shopping local and helping your mom-and-pop stores. A cause that I really feel we could all easily support. Happy shopping!

Happy New Year!

New Year's was such a blast at our 80's party at our friends' house.
Brentt was Magnum P.I.
I'm pretty sure all our kids thought we were insane.

Happy New Year!
